Welcome to the Beacon Hill Business Association

As the most well-preserved part of old Boston, Beacon Hill captures the historic spirit of the city better than any other neighborhood. Nineteenth-century novelist Henry James, who grew up on Mount Vernon Street, felt that Charles Street was the only American street of the day that could hold its own against the charms of London and Paris. Founded in 1980, the Beacon Hill Business Association (BHBA) works with the business district of this extraordinary neighborhood to make it a harmonious and lively complement to the stately, residential district. In a rapidly-changing retail world, the BHBA’s mission is to ensure that the shopping streets remain useful to neighbors, interesting to visitors, and tasteful and attractive for all.
